18 Senate Democrats Just Voted To Confirm Another Trump Nominee - Let's Primary Them
I'm so tired of this weak Democratic Party
Let’s start with a simple acknowledgment - The Democratic Party has largely been asleep at the wheel during this 2nd Trump term.
At a time where Trump is his most deranged, and we could desperately use a real opposition party, the Democrats have mostly just rolled over and shown their belly’s.
Even small acts, like refusing to confirm Trump’s nominee’s, is apparently too much to ask for them. Which, for those of you who remember how Republicans obstructed damn near everything President Obama attempted during his tenure, you would think this wouldn’t be asking too much, but here we are.
Yesterday, 18 Senate Democrats joined all Republicans to nominate Joshua Rudd, to serve as head of both U.S. Cyber Command and the National Security Agency.
Thankfully, some Democrats did speak out against this nomination. This was reported by Politico:
Rudd garnered pushback from Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), who spoke on the Senate floor multiple times against Rudd’s confirmation.
Wyden blocked the potential for a Senate voice vote last month, forcing a roll call vote on Rudd’s nomination.
Wyden raised concerns about Rudd’s lack of prior military cyber leadership experience and his limited understanding of NSA surveillance authorities.
Wyden again spoke against Rudd’s nomination during a floor speech Tuesday before the vote, stressing that Rudd “is the wrong person for this position” and that if Rudd were approved, “it is all the more important that we pass legislation to protect against surveillance abuses.”
Before I give you the names, I just want to say…A real opposition party would’ve protested this appointment, and did so publicly, stating that it was doing so to oppose an illegal & unpopular war.
Holding up this appointment would’ve given the Democratic Party a major win in the eyes of the country, & proved they were willing to fight Trump’s warmongering, by holding up appointments that could aide the war effort.
Instead, we have a “leader” in Chuck Schumer, who obviously doesn’t have control of his party, or was okay with giving Trump another win.
Either way, it’s time for new leadership, and it’s time to primary Democrats that choose working with Trump, over obstructing the most dangerous regime this country has ever witnessed.
Here are the 18 Democrats that voted to confirm another Trump nominee:
Tammy Baldwin - Wisconsin
Chris Coons - Delaware
Catherine Cortez Masto - Nevada
John Fetterman - Pennsylvania
Kirsten Gillibrand - New York
Maggie Hassan - New Hampshire
Martin Heinrich - New Mexico
Mazie Horono - Hawai'i
Mark Kelly - Arizona
Angus King - Maine
Gary Peters - Michigan
Jack Reed - Rhode Island
Jackie Rosen - Nevada
Adam Schiff - California
Jeanne Shaheen - New Hampshire
Elissa Slotkin - Michigan
Mark Warner - Virginia
Sheldon Whitehouse - Rhode Island
No pictures for this list, Substack didn’t seem to appreciate when I went over 10 images last time…
If you live in these states, please call your senator & ask why they didn’t oppose another Trump appointment.
If you don’t like their answer, or don’t get one, let’s find new senators. Honestly, I think we should find new ones anyway. This current version of the Democratic Party seems more interested in sitting back and doing nothing, than actual opposing a fascist regime.
Let’s primary these incumbents and get new representation.
Additional stories I wanted to share:
White House tells House Republicans to stop talking about mass deportations - White House Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair privately urged House Republicans on Tuesday to stop emphasizing "mass deportations". Nearly half — 49% — of Americans say Trump's mass deportation campaign is too aggressive, including 1 in 5 voters who backed the president in 2024, a Politico poll from January found. Blair delivered the message during a policy listening session with House Republicans at their annual retreat in Doral, Florida
Iranian Foreign Minister tells NBC News that Iran is ready for a U.S. ground invasion - He also refuses any negotiations with the U.S. and says that Iran had not asked for a ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister was asked if he was afraid of a possible U.S. ground invasion, Araghchi struck a defiant tone. “No, we are waiting for them,” he said and added, “Because we are confident that we can confront them, and that would be a big disaster for them.” “The fact is that we don’t have any positive experience of negotiating with the United States. You know, especially with this administration. We negotiated twice last year and this year, and then in the middle of negotiations, they attacked us,“ Araghchi said.
He added, “So we see no reason why we should engage once again with those who have, who are not honest in negotiation, and they don’t and do not enter into negotiation in good faith.”
Iran strikes ships in Strait of Hormuz & banks across Middle East - Three ships were hit by "unknown projectiles" near the Strait of Hormuz overnight, as Iran claimed it had launched its “most intense” operation since the start of the war. The attacks came after the U.S. military said Tuesday that it had destroyed Iranian mine-laying vessels near the strait. Sources told CNN that Tehran had begun laying mines in the key waterway, which carries about one-fifth of the world’s crude oil supply. Iran’s joint military command also announced it would begin targeting banks and financial institutions across the Middle East — a move that could put financial hubs such as Dubai, as well as Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, at risk.
Trump’s SAVE Act to steal the midterms, may actually be dead - he’s the report from Politico:
President Donald Trump told House Republicans Monday he had one overriding legislative priority for 2026. Then they spent Tuesday talking about just about anything else.
Speaker Mike Johnson and other senior lawmakers gave the unmistakable impression they now consider that bill to be a Senate problem — even after Trump insisted the House take it up a third time and add on more controversial provisions, such as a near-total ban on mail voting.
Johnson told members he was working with Thune to advance the SAVE America Act. Though, the measure faces a likely immovable obstacle in the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster rule. Several top leaders refused to commit to passing it through the House a third time with the changes Trump is seeking, which include the mail voting ban many Republicans oppose — even after the president threatened Monday not to sign any other bills until it’s enacted.
White House officials separately told upset Trump loyalists in private conversations at the Florida retreat that the bill would get a vote in the Senate soon, according to three people granted anonymity to describe the discussions. But those officials suggested there would not be any move to sidestep the filibuster as some MAGA firebrands are demanding.
FBI subpoenas 2 million ballots from Arizona - The FBI has subpoenaed records from a partisan review of more than 2 million ballots cast in the 2020 election in Arizona's Maricopa County, expanding President Trump's wide-ranging investigations into his election loss to Joe Biden. The request for records is related to a 2021 audit of the 2020 election carried out by the Republican-dominated Arizona state Senate, which, despite the partisan nature of the review, confirmed Joe Biden's victory in Arizona. This follows the FBI's raid of the election office in Georgia's Fulton County in January, when federal agents seized 700 boxes of ballots. Meanwhile, President Trump said on Sunday he will not sign any more legislation until Congress passes the Republican-backed SAVE America Act, which would require voters to show passports or birth certificates to register to vote or update their voter registration information. The bill also effectively eliminates online and mail voter registration. Voting rights reporter Ari Berman called it a, "chilling precedent for how Trump might try to interfere in the 2026 election."
That’s all for today everyone! If you’re reading this, thank you for being a paid subscriber of Independent Thought.
Until next time,

We really need to primary these incumbents and get new representation. This party does not represent us
Wyden is also ex-NSA, and has consistently tried to undo the Mass Surveillance they have unleashed. He's solidly against this absurdity going on.
