Just to be clear about the moment we’re in:
AOC & Bernie Sanders just generated a crowd of 3,200 in Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon, to talk about fighting the oligarchy, Donald Trump, and Elon Musk.
Thursday evening, in a non-campaign year, when neither of them are running for office, 15,000 Arizonans turned out for their rally in Phoenix.
This is a big deal.
Here’s what AOC said during her rally in Vegas ⬇️
I'll share with you exactly what I mean. Because when they like to call us radical, and what they like to call me is radical, I believe is common sense.
I believe that when a person gets sick, they shouldn't go bankrupt in the wealthiest country in the history of the world.
Common sense.
I believe that a minimum wage should cover the minimum cost to live.
Common sense.
And by the way, we should see that not paying a living wage is also a form of corporate welfare and looting.
Because big companies like Walmart and Amazon often rely on the food stamp program, and public coffers to cover the wages that they won't pay.
I believe that homes are not slot machines for investors and Wall Street to extort working families out of every last dollar that they have.
A home is sacred.
And when your landlord jacks up your rent by half overnight, or housing prices skyrocket because Wall Street treats our housing market like a casino, your government should fight for your ability to keep an affordable roof over your head.
And finally, I believe our elected officials should take on abuses of corporate greed everywhere, they find it.
We must get big money out of politics and make clear that our country is not for sale. And that is why I don't and never will take money from lobbyists and corporations.
Personally, I’m happy to see politicians FINALLY start utilizing rallies in the off years.
Yes, Trump has been doing this consistently for a decade, but I’ve always believed that Dems needed to be out there as well. There’s a lot of energy out there right now, and it would be a massive mistake to sit on the sidelines, when people are begging for any type of action.
I mean any action.
I’m glad at least these two seem to understand what people want to hear right now. I didn’t think it was too difficult to meet this moment, but most Dems have been on the sidelines, while very few have been willing to get out there and fight back.
Here’s another clip from yesterday, this one is from the Phoenix rally ⬇️
AOC & Bernie haven’t been the only Democrats to find themselves on tour recently, we have also seen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz starting to hold town halls in Wisconsin this week.
Something he referred to as his “most unsatisfactory ‘I told you so’ tour.”
He met residents in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, talking about the dangers of Trump’s plans & asking folks to come out and vote in next month’s Supreme Court election in the state.
Whether it’s thousands lining up to see an AOC & Bernie rally, packed rooms coming to see Tim Walz push back against Elon Mush, or the millions of new viewers for outlets like the MeidasTouch Network, it’s clear that there is an incredible hunger right now for SOMEONE to pushback against this Trump regime.
Should the Democrats be holding more events like AOC, Bernie or Tim Walz? Please comment below & tell me your thoughts 💭
Something that was made even more evident when our Senate Democrat leader, Chuck Schumer, caved to Trump last week.
Something I spoke about in detail in my last post ⬇️
The message to Democrats from their prospective voter base is simple — show up and FIGHT.
Do not shrink in front of Trump, MAGA, & Elon.
Do not give them an inch.
Do not normalize this moment in history, by reacting in conventional ways. Nothing about this should signal “business as usual”
Some politicians seem to understand the assignment & are rising to the moment, but too many are still sitting around not doing anything at all.
If you are in Colorado, Arizona or the surrounding states, here are the remaining dates for the AOC & Bernie tour, in case you would like to join.
Until next time,
Desmond
