I first came in contact with Ryan Busse in 2024 when he was running for Governor of Montana. A local organizer & friend from Great Falls, Montana, was able to get me in contact with his running mate, which gave me the opportunity to schedule an interview.
2024 was not a good year for Democrats in Montana & Busse lost the election, but I honestly thought he ran a good campaign, it just wasn’t the best election to be a Democrat, especially in a red state.
Now he’s running to serve Montana’s 1st Congressional District, and most polls have him leading the race. In a blue wave year, the Democratic primary winner should be the favorite to flip this seat, and possibly the House this November.
We have 2 Congressional districts here in Montana, and the western district is only an R+5 district. Very winnable for a Democratic candidate, especially in a wave election cycle.
In 2022, the district went to the Republican winner by just 3 points, a margin of victory by only 7,800 votes.
