Donald Trump Begins The Elimination Of The Department Of Education

By; Desmond Price

Donald Trump has said many times now, that one of his goals for the new regime is to eliminate the Department of Education from existence. On Tuesday, that reality began to take form.

Staff at the Department of Education have been told to leave the agency’s headquarters by 6 p.m. Tuesday and that all department offices across the country will be closed Wednesday, with no reason or justification except “security reasons.”

The US education department said on Tuesday it would lay off nearly half its staff, a possible precursor to closing alltogether, as government agencies scrambled to meet president Donald Trump’s deadline to submit plans for a second round of mass layoffs.

The terminations are part of the department’s “final mission,” it said in a press release, alluding to Trump’s vow to eliminate the department, which oversees $1.6tn in college loans, enforces civil rights laws in schools and provides federal funding for needy districts.

The layoffs would leave the department with 2,183 workers, down from 4,133 when Trump took office in January.

We all know by now that there’s no altruistic goal here for the President. This is a man that’s always been driven by ego or money. This latest move is no different.

Republicans have been telling the American public for years that they plan to alter education in this country completely with “school choice”.

A clever smokescreen that is designed to do 2 things:

  1. Transfer public dollars to private insitutions - Surprise, surprise, Republicans want to help wealthy people become more wealthy, who would’ve guessed? Funneling public tax dollars away from the current public school system & into private schools, will help wealthy school owners add another stream of revenue into their pockets.

  2. Private institutions mean, no oversight on the curriculum - More plainly, you don’t have to worry about what you’re teaching in schools, because it’s now a private institution. A great place to indoctrinate your beliefs into the children of this country from the beginning. Do Republicans want to help some folks make money, sure, but they also want ensure their own survival. A country filled with countless private right-wing schools, that teach what they believe should be taught, will do wonders for their security.

Deleting the department of education is just one more piece to that plan. The department is responsible for doling out money to districts around the country.

Without these federal funds, some districts would start to crumble.

A fact that I’m sure Trump and Elon Mush (that’s not a typo) are counting on.

Trump Is Not Just Threatening K-12 Schools, But Universities As Well

Education in America is being attacked from every angle by the Trump regime. There’s no telling what’s going to happen next, but I can tell you that we have to do everything in our power to stand firm and push back.

This morning, I came across an article by Qasim Rashid, Esq. who outlined some ways that folks can get activated in this moment & not have to feel so helpless on the sidelines.

If you would like to see the remaining 4 steps he outlines, please be sure to check out the remainder of the article below. I also recommend subscribing! His account is incredible.

Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid
Trump To Order Former WWE Promoter to Dissolve Education Department
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Donald Trump is expected to issue an Executive Order (EO) instructing former WWE promoter and current Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to shut down the Department of Education. This move is both unconstitutional and catastrophic for America’s students. And while Trump’s supporters will likely cheer this as a…

In Closing

I started this post with a video of WWE wrestler (now head of the Department of Education) Linda McMahon, talking on Fox News about ending the DOE & it’s stitched with a clip of Jon Stewart.

Stewart is on CNN talking about how Republicans constantly run on government not working and being ineffective, so then when they get into office, they have to defund programs & be ineffective to prove their point.

It’s not just a self-fulfilling prophecy, it’s (unfortunately) a rather ingenious ploy to get to their actual endgame.

The dismantling of the federal government, so that it can no longer regulate the major corporations, and privatizing as many things as possible, to help the billionaires make more money.

That’s the endgame.

  • Every regulation that’s rolled back

  • Every department that’s slashed

  • Every infiltration by Elon Mush & DOGE

  • Everything we’ve been seeing, is another step forward towards that ultimate end

I think it’s important to understand that that’s what this is all leading up to. Republicans want to consolidate power & transfer more of our money to the billionaires.

While the subject matter of this post is rather bleak, I promise that there’s plenty of hope to be found.

People are protesting, fighting back, boycotting & getting politically activated in ways I haven’t seen in years.

Also, there are elected officials at every level that are doing their best to make a difference. I’ll be interviewing one next week & posting that interview here on Substack.

Democrat SJ Howell, representing HD 100 in Montana’s State Legislature will be joining me next week to discuss quite a few different subjects.

I’ll be sure to update y’all once I have some more details.

I’m personally excited to speak with them, but I’m also excited to share a conversation with everyone that is rooted in finding ways to move forward & what that looks like.

Finally, here is a video that I hope brings a better feeling than this article did. If it did, please let me know in the comments

Until next time,
