Donald Trump Blames Everyone But Himself, For Deadly Plane/Helicopter Crash
By: Desmond Price
All 64 people aboard an American Airlines jet that collided with an Army helicopter were feared dead in what was likely to be the worst U.S. aviation disaster in almost a quarter century, officials said Thursday.
At least 28 bodies, including all three soldiers who were on the helicopter, have been pulled from the icy waters of the Potomac River as recovery operations continue.

In the face of a tragedy like this one, a country usually turns to a leader for a sense of stability and guidance. Mostly, people are looking for answers, and more importantly a promise that something like this cannot happen again.
Unfortunately, the United States is led by Donald Trump, who instead offered absolutely nothing resembling accountability when talking about this tragedy.
Donald Trump used the plane crash in Washington DC to attack his political enemies, claiming Democrats were responsible for declining standards in air traffic control and that the disaster “could have been” caused by diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies at the Federal Aviation Administration.
During a press conference on Thursday about the crash, Trump turned what might have been a sombre briefing into a baseless rant against DEI despite no evidence of a link with the plane crash.
When pressed on his citation of DEI as a cause of the crash by reporters after his address, Trump said: “It just could have been.”
Asked how he could so quickly decide diversity was to blame for the crash near Reagan National airport, Trump said: “Because I have common sense, OK, and unfortunately, a lot of people don’t.”
Trump also took aim at Pete Buttigieg, the former Democratic mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who was transportation secretary under Biden.
“He was a disaster”. Trump also said Buttigieg, who is gay, ran the transportation department into the ground “with his diversity”.

Since the crash happened, Donald Trump has blamed:
Barack Obama
Joe Biden
The Democratic Party
The 2020 Election
D.E.I.
And Pete Buttigieg
Just in case anyone is wondering, no, he absolutely did not find any room for accountability from his own administration.
I know, shocking right?
While I expect no less from Trump, I’m still glad people are out there demanding he take accountability for what happened last night.
Pete Buttigieg took to social media to address Trump’s deflection earlier today
Donald Trump has been in office for 10 days & he has already rocked this country to the core. Laying out numerous devastating executive orders, upending previous ones, sending ICE into every corner of the country, opening a concentration camp at Guantanamo Bay, and freezing government spending on Medicaid and other programs.
Make no mistake, it looks like this administration will be far more costly than his previous one. One thing that won’t change though, is his lies and manipulation.
Rather than address the shortage of air traffic controllers, which is estimated around 3,000, Trump has placed this particular tragedy at the fault of anyone who isn’t a straight White guy, who happened to be working at the FAA
A convenient excuse, when this happened just last week ⬇️
While we know Trump is a pathological liar, I do want to add another fact check regardless. While Trump blames these “D.E.I. Practices” for this tragedy and the lives lost, this particular hiring practice at the FAA has been their policy since 2013. Which was brought to Trump’s attention in a recent press conference.
A reporter asked Trump - if this was a problem, why didn’t you address it in your first term?
We cannot expect accountability or the truth from Donald Trump
While we all expected the new Trump administration to be just as terrible or worse, it’s still hard to come to terms with the reality on the ground. We’re in for a rough 4 years, but I believe we can navigate this if we stick together.
Please support each other, but also please support organizations and groups that are fighting back!
Today I want to highlight the ACLU.
They have chapters in every state (I happen to be a big fan of the chapter here in Montana) & a nationwide branch. They sued Trump’s first administration over 400 times & they are already lining up lawsuits after his attacks on our civil liberties last week.
You can support them directly, by donating to their organization here
I know that one of the more consistent forms of feedback I receive is - I wish I knew what we could do.
So I pledge to you, that I’m going to increase my efforts, not just to bring you the news, but to also help find ways that we can direct our energy and focus into fighting back.
