I'm Finally Feeling Hopeful Again After Watching Zohran Mamdani Win
What Happens Now?
Bernie Sanders dropped out of the Presidential race in April of 2020, after it was apparent that he could not overtake Joe Biden’s delegate lead. To be honest, I haven’t had a whole lot of hope since that moment.
The powers at be constantly demean progressive minded folks as “radicals”, trying to destroy the country.
Saying we’re radical for wanting:
Universal childcare
Bans on assault rifles
Higher taxes on billionaires
Divestment from fossil fuels
Universal healthcare
Elimination of politicians taking bribes from corporations
Abolition of secret police (ICE)
End of imperialism tactics from our military
That’s just to name a few, but the point is clear. These are not “radical” proposals. They’re frankly baseline common sense asks, for a country struggling to save face with its people.
What’s “radical” is the status quo.
“Radical” is:
A for-profit healthcare system that leads to medical bankruptcy, being the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the country
A system that allows politicians to legally accept bribes from the corporations they’re supposed to regulate
Continuing to increase fossil fuel production, knowing it’s destroying the Earth
Cutting taxes for the wealthiest people in human history, even though they couldn’t possibly need MORE MONEY
Increasing funding for federal police force that can abduct you without a warrant, detain you indefinitely without charges, and use surveillance to spy on anyone they choose
Invading any country we see fit & killing people without any cause whatsoever
Let’s be fair, I could make this list 10 pages long & it still wouldn’t scratch the surface of the dystopian hellhole that is America in 2025.
Our country is “radical” & the politicians who advocate to keep it this way are the true villains in this story.
I felt hope last night watching Zohran Mamdani win, because it finally felt like people are waking up to that reality.
The reality that we cannot continue to go on, with the failed policies of the past. That the future must be centered around providing for working people & challenging the billionaire class and their politicians.
The reality that we can have something better & we don’t have to live in apathy all the time.
The reality that the Millennials & Gen Z voters, now have larger numbers that Gen X & Baby Boomers. And we don’t have to except these corporate Democrats anymore, that never truly fight the status quo.
I feel hope because Zohran Mamdani just faced incredible opposition & prevailed.
We can too.

Also, the American people showed Trump last night, just how unpopular he is. I love that for him
Excellent post, I'm sending out links now.
