I first came across Sam Lux a few months ago on Tik Tok. He’s been driving himself around the state of Montana, going to events & town halls, trying to speak to people who feel forgotten in the 2nd district.
Races like Montana’s 2nd are considered “safe” Republican seats, so the national press never gives them any time, and the DNC doesn’t want to give a “lost cause” any funding.
So, like many Democrats running in rural districts around this country, Sam finds himself with minimal support in a deep red district.
But that’s not the full story.
Montana, for those who live in the state (I live in Montana & have so for 20 years now), know that this state has a history of being unpredictable. Even though it went for a Republican at the Presidential every election this century, it also elected a Democrat for Governor 4 times in a row!
Being a Montanan myself & understand this reality about this state, I refuse to play into the defeatist mindset that says Democrats cannot win here.
Equally as important…
I wanted to interview candidates that are flying underneath the radar, leading up to the 2026 midterms, and that’s what I intend to do.
Starting with this interview, I will be interviewing folks running for office, across this country, over the next several months.
