Looking For Hope? Let’s Focus On Local Politics. A Conversation With Daniel Carlino

A recording from Independent Thought's live video

Independent Thought is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Daniel Carlino was the very 1st guest I had on Independent Thought, 5 years ago when he was first running for office.

Daniel is currently serving as a member of the City Council in Missoula, Montana & is seeking reelection this year.

There was a moment in this conversation that absolutely made my brain begin to melt…when you come across it, please tell me if you agree with my reaction. I could not believe what Daniel said to me.

While the national political landscape has left so many of us feeling hopeless, I still very strongly believe in focusing on local politics, where usually we can have a strong impact.

I know many of you do not live in the state of Montana, but I hope you enjoy this conversation all the same. It’s important to remember that we should all take some time to be involved locally.

Talk to your local officials. Get involved in your politics.

Daniel Carlino is the current City Councilmember representing Ward 3 in Missoula Montana. Carlino is looking to run for re-election in Missoula as he faces new challengers in the 2025 city council election. Carlino represents the left-flank of the city council & is running a progressive platform & vision for the city.
