Meet - Abbie Mood - Our Newest Writer For Independent Thought

Here’s a little intro, before she releases her first post.

My name is Abbie Mood and I am so excited to be a part of the Independent Thought community. I’m honored to join the voices here and hope that you find my contributions thought-provoking (or at least interesting!).

I grew up in a small town on the East Coast, moved to the West Coast after college, and have been in Colorado for the past decade. My first career was a preschool special education teacher and a few years ago I switched gears and I’m now a writer/marketer full-time, though I’ve been writing since 2009.

Politically, I have always been a proud registered Democrat, but became super disenchanted by the political system in the last couple of years, so ahead of the election in 2024, I officially changed my voter registration to Independent. I feel very strongly about and am looking forward to sharing my thoughts on a variety of topics, including education, human rights/social justice/equality, climate/environmental justice, and especially the impact of capitalism and how industries that are supposed to help us are designed for the opposite (healthcare, big pharma, the food industry, etc.).

I think we’re in for it over the next few years, and I know a lot of people who are reaaallllly nervous (or scared) about this upcoming administration. I totally get that and have made it my goal to step up and speak up to help people realize that you aren’t alone and we have more power than we think. There are plenty of organizations who have a plan and are ready for what may come. We can — and will — get through this if we’re willing to come together.
