After seeing the reactions of so many online this weekend, I already know that some will see this post & immediately unsubscribe from my newsletter. My reaction to this - I don't care. I 100% stand by my words in this post. If you're more concerned with protecting the reputation of Eric Swalwell, more than the victims who bravely came forward, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
I’m about as maga as our Stupreme leader is competent, honest, fair, rational, respectful, poised, polished, decent, trustworthy and willing to take responsibility when appropriate rather than awarding himself credit for things done by someone else. This guy’s been a thief throughout his life. Not to forget a cowardly, corrupt bully who only latches onto people or entities that he can use and manipulate to his own benefit. He behaves like a parasite.
My post was a response to another post that mentioned people defending former congressman Swalwell ‘s reputation. The point I was making is that we are responsible for our own reputations and can’t or shouldn’t rely on anyone else to help with it .
I imagine we’ll will find out what the truth is as more attention and scrutiny are focused on this . With so many women making what seem to be sincere, emotional statements, it’s hard to imagine that they’re all lying or fabricating everything. They deserve to be listened to, treated respectfully and given the benefit of the doubt. I do wonder a bit though about the timing because it all came to light right after Dt’s wife spoke out, the congressman was the front runner for Cal. Governor, he’s been one of the most outspoken critics of Trump and digging up dirt on people is how this regime spends quite a bit of it’s time.
In the Soviet tradition sex scandals have always been the way (aside from murder) keep someone quiet. Remember this guy spent a lot of time in meetings with Putin and only Putin had anyone else in the room. So there’s no record or documentation of what they discussed. We’lll just have to stay tuned.
Sounds like you’ve been programmed by Soviet Russia or something.
At least one woman sounds like she and this man got sloshed together (Making her both victim and perpetrator) and then mysterious 5 years later ended up drunk and in bed with him again. lol That’s not a victim. That’s a perpetrator as well, seeing as he was also drunk.
It’s all political fodder and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were bribed. Now let’s see, who bribes women to say things that would benefit them. Hint: He’s got 34 felonies.
I believe the women too. At first I saw his appeal and he seemed very confident and sincere. And then I heard the allegations, the number of women and how they all described the same MO. So I believe it now. When Biden was accused by 1 woman, the fact that she had recalled things differently several times. Completely conflicting stories. That didn't sound sincere. But I pointed out that I didn't know and that I would never call her a liar. Simply because only the 2 of them really know.
This is truly horrible and heartbreaking. I'm not going to trust the system and the politicians anymore. Thank you for being brave and strong for bringing this to our attention. 💔
It has been my personal experience that people flock to defend abusers and discredit survivors because it’s what’s best for the ‘bigger picture’ - whether it’s keeping the peace in family/community or protecting someone in a position of power. Survivors are seen as troublemakers. We have a long way to go in our society before we change this.
Well, that's sure not how it worked out for Al Frankel.
Even we of the strongest proponents for victims of sexual abuse have got to admit there's aspects of these stories that are suspect. That's not me disbelieving anyone. This is just me saying let it play out in the courts, not on social media.
I believe the women as well. Swalwell is young, white, good-looking, and earning a reputation as an up and coming Dem leader so it’s almost human nature that folks want to defend him. It is just as possible for a young, white, good looking, up and coming Dem leader to slide down the slippery slope of believing they are above the law as it is for anyone else. If this comment puts a target on my back, so be it. I’m just a fat old white lady who has been a bleeding heart liberal all my life and will stand for women until my dying breath.
Thank you for this, Desmond. I believe the women--I always do, unless they're Melania Trump. But Trump should be investigated too. The consequences should not fall upon Democrats alone. The evidence is in the Epstein files. Enough already.
Were there victims or one? I do think we should investigate but not just automatically agree or disagree. It is suspicious being the timing but we should still investigate
I’ve already read the story of the first accuser (This is what they’re called until it’s proven in a court of law that this happened).
In 2019, she claims that her and this man got drunk together. If she can’t consent, neither can he. So that’s a moot point to me. But what looks really, really weird is that in 2024, a whopping 5 years later, she just happened to go around this man and get sloshed again, and he got sloshed again, and now they’re both in bed together again. Give me a damn break. She’s either an alcoholic who can’t control when she gets drunk or it was a setup.
The whole story sounds like “We slept together” but nothing else. I don’t believe a GD thing coming out just before an election. They’ve known for eons he was running. Why now? Makes no sense. My guess is he did sleep around but it all sounds consensual.
"Either we believe victims or we don't." Balderdash! That is a false choice, designed to paint the believer of the alleged victim as the more moral person, with absolutely no consideration of verifiable fact.
We believe victims if they are believable, if they have some hard evidence to back them up, hard evidence such as that found in spades in the Epstein files.
I don't know anything about the allegations concerning Swalwell, therefore I make no judgment here, but statements like that are calculated manipulation.
When I say that I think he should get a chance to defend himself, in a court of law, before being forced to step down, it's not out of concern for just his career. There's way more at stake here than just that. There's a family that could be torn apart, there's lots of people whose jobs are connected to his campaign, and let's not forget the very, very evil and desperate tactics of the GOP who are especially seeking revenge on Dem CA politics. But it's the timing that really bothers me. I keep flashing back to Al Frankel, and the fairest way to approach this is to let it play out in the courts.
CNN asked for a comment from the Swalwell team before they went to publish the story. The cease and desist letters were sent out the same night. Must have been one hell of a private detective to piece that together in less than a day
Three didn't give their names, but the article contained descriptives (one connected online with him, one asked for references, etc.), plus I bet someone gave him a heads-up. Probably someone from TMZ, or Daily Mail. All that aside, it's beginning to sound like he's copping to the gross texts, etc, but is still (at this point), denying the rape charge.

No one’s responsible for any reputation but their own.
If you are a MAGAt, you are hopeless & need to be put down!

This creep got a pass for 1 reason only, he is a DEMOCRAT!

It must change!
Things must change for the best!

I'm not taking anyone's word without evidence and social media isn't the place for a trial. Believe all evidence.
Believe all evidence!
As much as I want Swalwell to be innocent, I choose to believe the women.
It hurts my heart. I thought he was a good guy.
Believe!

I believe the VICTIMS!!!

Did you read the CNN article I attached to my post?
I no longer trust CNN they capitulated to State Sponsored media.

Accusations are bull shit. Some one paid women to speak out lies. Gee who would do that ,mmmm.

> How did he know who to send letters to if they were anonymous?
Private Detective, Private Security, Ex-Law Enforcement Consultant, Data Brokers like Near Intelligence/Azira, etc.
Privacy is a myth, especially if you have access too $$$.

Believe the victims!
It starts with 1 drink, then predators force their way! Some victims are autistic or otherwise prone to abuse!
Believe the victims!
