First I want to say this — please watch the above video before reading the rest of this article.
There is a palpable sense of rage in the air over the last handful of days amongst Democratic voters. No matter what social media platform you frequent, I’m sure you have seen the contempt folks have for Democratic leadership.
After Trump’s latest budget bill cleared the House of Representatives with every single Democrat voting no (except for one), the bill went to the Senate. There, Democrats had a chance to block the bill by using the filibuster.
You know, the thing that Democrats said we “couldn’t” get rid of, because it would be important to use when they were in the minority again.
That filibuster.
Well, Democratic leader Chuck Schumer decided to outwardly protest that he needed to vote for this bill & essentially provide cover for other Dems that wanted to as well.
These are the 10 Democrats that voted for Trump’s budget bill (and the year of their next election).
Catherine Cortez-Masto (Nevada) 2028
Kirsten Gillibrand (New York) 2030
Chuck Schumer (New York) 2028
Dick Durbin (Illinois) 2026
Maggie Hassan (New Hampshire) 2028
Angus King (Maine) 2030
Gary Peters (Michigan) 2026
Brian Schatz (Hawai’i) 2028
John Fetterman (Pennsylvania) 2028
Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire) isn’t seeking re-election
Do what you think is best with that information…
There has been outrage across the board since the 10 Senate Democrats helped the Trump regime advance their budget bill on Friday. With people calling for Chuck Schumer to step down as leader of the Democrats in the Senate.
AOC took a moment to comment on a post by Senator John Fetterman, where she said this.
Radio personality Charlamagne Tha God (The Breakfast Club) threw in his 2 cents about Chuck Schumer
I could seriously sit here and posts dozens and dozens of posts that went viral over the last 48 hours, reacting to this spineless move by the Democratic leadership. Even extreme Democratic loyalists over the years, were calling for the complete overhaul of the Democratic Party.
Something I thought I would never see.
Truthfully, this does indeed feel like a turning point. I cannot ever remember a time over the last decade of closely paying attention to politics, where I’ve seen this level of disgust from a base, directed at its Party.

In Closing
There will be a lot more to say about this in the coming days & weeks, but I do feel something incredibly important is happening right now.
For years, I have felt as though the Democratic Party has not been doing enough to truly set us on the right path. Due to this feeling, I have felt politically homeless. There is no doubt in my mind that I could never vote for the Republican Party, I share no values with their ideology & vision for our country.
At the same time, the Democratic Party is a complete disappointment.
It is full of spineless “let’s go along to get along” types, people lacking any forward vision, and of course, people bought out by the same corporations that buy off Republicans.
I truly want our society to function better, but it constantly feels like the Democratic Party will promise us that they feel the same way, but instead, they find every reason possible to be absolutely ineffective.
For the last several years now, I knew in my bones that this party needed to be torn down & rebuilt, but it didn’t feel like too many people who voted for Democrats also shared that feeling. There’s way too much forgiveness for my taste. Too much - well, they’re doing the best they can energy from standard Democratic voters.
With that being said…it felt like that has really started to shift now & I could not be happier to see it!
This conversation could be it’s own post (series even), but I will cap off this conversation by saying that it gives me hope to finally see so many people say “enough is enough” with the Democrats.
Having something better, requires moving on from what you have now.
Let’s start over and build something better. We deserve better than this version of the Democratic Party.
Until next time,
Desmond
