We've been spending a lot of time over the last few months talking about Trump's invasion of Venezuela, ICE, and the Epstein Files. So I thought it would be a nice change of pace to look to the future. It's important to remember that we are fighting for a life after Trump. Let's try to envision what that should look like.
The filibuster merely buys time at best. I know Manchin and Sinema blocked removing it the 2 years democrats controlled the house and senate. If there were no filibuster then, they would have to vote on amongst others John Lewis voting act. So I agree that the filibuster has to go.
It was never an effective tool anyways. Not for democrats atleast. But then you have Senate hold forexample Tommy Tuberville blocking promotions in the US military. He single-handedly held up votes. And that is something that is clearly more effective. But I haven't seen democrats use it.
About the filibuster, I can only fantasize that it be abolished after the Democrats take back the Senate. Right now, I think it works in our favor as a check against even more Trumpian fuckery.
The current usage of the filibuster is brought to you by that great American patriot (NOT) Mitch McConnell. Thanks a lot, Kentucky!
It’s hard to think past the next fascist caused catastrophe & look to the future. It’s like we’re living second by second just waiting for what happens next. Every single morning, before I look at my phone, I wonder if I’ll get a notification that it’s over. Every ding, 🛎️ I think, is this the day…?Something incredible happened & the world doesn’t have to go through this hardship or suffer under this regime any longer. Then I wake up 😔💙🕯️☮️🇺🇸🦅💔🦋❤️🩹📢🐉✊🔔💙

That wasn’t the understanding I got from that interview. He said that it wouldn’t be ideal because it could be weaponized by the opposition.
